Bridgnorth Town Council preparation for Coronation

Bridgnorth Town Council unanimously agreed at their Town Council meeting on Tuesday 17th January 2023 to purchase bunting for both the high and low town areas of Bridgnorth for the upcoming Coronation on Saturday 6th May 2023.
Bridgnorth Town Council want to ensure that the main public areas of High Town and Low Town are supporting the Coronation for residents, the community at large, as well as for visitors to the town. The Town Council know that there are going to be a number of streets in the parish area who will be putting up their own displays and decorations in place for their own street parties and celebrations and this is to be applauded, but nevertheless Bridgnorth Town Council wanted to ensure that the main business and high footfall areas were decorated.
Bridgnorth Town Council’s Events Committee has also unanimously agreed to hold a Coronation Tea Party on Saturday 13th May 2023 at the Low Town Community Hall for senior citizens in their community. This event will be free of charge to attend, but the numbers of tickets are limited and will be available on a first come first served basis. More information on how to obtain a ticket will be available nearer the time.
The Town Council are aware that many Town & Parish Council’s across the county and the country are planning and preparing for the Coronation; they wanted to ensure early planning and preparation was in place to help residents, businesses, and visitors to enjoy this momentous occasion.
Councillor Karen Sawbridge Mayor of Bridgnorth said ‘We are so pleased that the Town Council have agreed to purchase the bunting and are entirely committed to showing support for the Coronation. This will be the first time in many people’s lives that they will be able to watch this extremely symbolic occasion in the British Monarchy’s history’.
