Bridgnorth Town Council announces new Town Clerk

Bridgnorth Town Council is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Town clerk. Clare Turner has been appointed to the position, effective December 5th 2022.

Mrs Turner joins the council following previous experience as a Town Clerk at Albrighton Parish Council and at Great Dawley Town Council. Earlier in her career she was responsible for a number of significant projects at Telford and Wrekin Council. She has also worked as a customer project controller for a European company. Mrs Turner, who was born in Wellington, attended schools and college in the Telford area.

Bridgnorth Mayor, Councillor Karen Sawbridge, said: “Our selection panel was impressed with Clare’s understanding of the importance of engaging with the local community, as well as making sure the Council is using its limited resources  and income in the most cost effective manner.

“We wanted someone who understood the importance of developing a strategic plan for our wonderful town, as well as being able to efficiently handle more routine but necessary activities and services.

“Whilst the current economic conditions are at the forefront of our minds, not only in our town but also across the region and the wider United Kingdom we are convinced that there are opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the service to our residents, as well as enhance business prospects and opportunities, particularly in retail and tourism, throughout the Bridgnorth area.”

Councillor Sawbridge also paid tribute to the diligent work of the Interim Town Clerk, Ros Williams. “Since the departure of the previous Town Clerk in July Ros has performed effectively in the role and she has managed our activities in an efficient manner. We really appreciate the job she has done”.
