Bridgnorth Town Council has collated the following information for services and support available during the Coronavirus outbreak
Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is inviting older people to visit their day centres in Hadley and Bridgnorth. The local charity runs 39 OPEL centres (Older People Enjoying Life) across Shropshire and Telford.
Each of the day centres take place in community premises or care homes and give older people something to look forward to each week, having fun and socialising is the main attraction for many of its members. The Age UK STW volunteers running the day centres put on a variety of activities, arrange transport to and from the venue and provide a hot meal for everyone, all for just a small charge under £10.
Hadley day centre takes place at Hadley Rest Rooms on Hadley Park Road and meets every Thursday 10am – 2pm.
Bridgnorth day centre meets at The Bungalow, Innage Grange by the fire station, every Monday 10am – 2pm. There is also a bathing project at Innage Grange where members can have an assisted bath with qualified staff.
Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: “The day centres are a great way of encouraging loved ones to get out and about and meet people. There are over 650 older people attending our day centres every week taking part in informative and stimulating activities. We have a dedicated team of volunteers running the centres with support from our Service Development Officer so family and friends can be reassured their loved ones are being looked after in a safe environment.”
There are 39 day centres operating in Shropshire, if you have someone in mind who may benefit from visiting a day centre then call Lois Clifford from Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin on 01952 201803.
