Bridgnorth Town Council has collated the following information for services and support available during the Coronavirus outbreak
Every year a team of volunteers from Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin organise a week’s holiday in Llandudno for older people who wish to have a holiday but, for whatever reason, find it difficult to get away. The holiday is enjoyed by around 100 Shropshire older people, and this year takes place from 9-16 July.
The holiday includes great food and nightly entertainment at the Queen’s Hotel on the sea front in Llandudno. This provide a wonderful base from which to explore Llandudno. Holidaymakers can also book a range of trips around the local area, for example on the Welsh Highland Railway, Llanberis, Angelsey, Beaumaris, Betws-y-Coed and Caernarvon. However strolling along the promenade in the sunshine, listening to the band, or walking the pier are also very popular pastimes.
Support is provided by a team of volunteers, who do everything they can to make sure that everyone has a good time. Although they carry out many different tasks, they cannot provide personal care, so if you need a carer you will need to bring one along. Transport is available with coaches picking up holidaymakers around the county.
The holiday costs £355 for accommodation (Bed, Breakfast & Evening Meal) and £40 for transport to and from Llandudno by Coach. A small charge of £1 is made for each day trip. If you need to pay for a carer to come along with you, or are finding it difficult to find the money for the holiday, we may be able to help, so please talk to Age UK.
Age UK are always trying to reach more people who find it difficult to get away on holiday. If you know someone who may like to come along, please tell them about it. Please ring us at Age UK at their Shrewsbury Office on 01743 233123 and join in the fun!
