New Town Clerk – Press Release – 2 May 2018

Bridgnorth Town Council is pleased to announce that they have appointed a new Town Clerk, who will commence his duties on 1st August 2018.
Commenting on the appointment the Town Mayor said “I am delighted that Council have approved the appointment of Mr Lee Jakeman as their new Town Clerk.
Mr Jakeman (MILCM) has been Chief Executive/Finance Officer to a town council for over 10 years and is thus very well qualified to fill this role. He worked as an HR Manager for a short period but before that his principal career was in the Royal Air Force where he served in numerous roles managing up to 45 personnel with responsibility for up to 600. He is a Principal Member of the Society of Local Council Clerks.
I am sure that Mr Jakeman will bring not only a wealth of experience to this role but also a new vibrancy and dynamic to the Council.”
Mr Jakeman commented:
“I am very pleased to be joining Bridgnorth Town Council as its Clerk. Bridgnorth is a beautiful town and I feel privileged to be able to spend the next stage of my career here. I am aware that there are challenges, particularly with the various problems we have to tackle as changes flow from Government and Unitary Authority policies, but I do enjoy a challenge. I am equally well aware that the Council has an excellent and committed staff and I look forward to working with them and the Council in the interests of the town.”
