Residents of Morfe Ward will be able to vote for the election of a new Town Councillor on Thursday 14th July in St. James Hall, Lodge Lane, Bridgnorth or Quatford Village Hall, Chapel Lane, Quatford. The Candidates can be found below.

Application forms are now available for entry into the Bridgnorth in Bloom Community Pride Awards.
This competition is run by Bridgnorth Town Council with support from local sponsors, groups and organisations.
The competition contributes to Bridgnorth’s entry in Heart of England In Bloom and has contributed greatly to the success of Bridgnorth’s entry in the past.
The Town Council encourages all residents, businesses and schools to take part and be proud of their local environment. Drought tolerant and environmentally friendly displays are encouraged to enter.
The closing date for entries is 8th August. Prizes will be presented at the Presentation Day on Thursday 8th September at 5pm in the Town Hall.

for Extension and Refurbishment of the Annexe Building adjacent to Bridgnorth Town Council offices converting into the New Mayors Chamber and associated works including refurbishment of the existing chamber into office space

Introduction : Bridgnorth Town Council (BTC) are seeking to extend and refurbish the existing annexe building and create the New Mayors Chamber. The works will include new toilet facilities and refurbishment of the existing chamber room converting into office space. All works will be with or adjacent to a Grade II listed building and within the conservation area.

Back by public demand Bridgnorth Community Events Working Party is delighted to put on Proms in the Pews on Saturday 11th June 2016 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Church. Bring your picnic and
refreshments, use the external bar (drinks may be consumed in the church) and listen to Bridgnorth Sinfonia and Whalebone. It is guaranteed to be an evening of fun and laughter!

NOTICE UNDER LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1972 (Section 87(2))
VACANCY FOR A COUNCILLOR
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that a casual vacancy has occurred in the office of Councillor for the Morfe Ward of the Town of Bridgnorth following the resignation on Monday 25th April 2016 of Mrs Pauline Harris.
Rule 5(2) of The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules, 2006 now applies.
The rule allows TEN ELECTORS for the parish [ward] in which the casual vacancy has arisen to request the Returning Officer to hold an election to fill the vacancy.* That request must be made within FOURTEEN DAYS, calculated in accordance with the rules,** of the date of this notice. The fourteen-day period ends at midnight on Thursday 19th May 2016.
What if a request to hold an election is not received during the permitted time?
Rule 5(5) of the above Rules will apply. The Parish Council must, as soon as practicable after the expiry of the fourteen-day period, co-opt a person to fill the vacancy.

* There is no form of words for this request, which might simply be a letter headed with such words as “We the undersigned being electors for the [Ward of] … Parish, call for an election to fill the vacancy arising from the [death][resignation] of …”. A template entitled “Request for an Election” is available to download from Shropshire Council’s website – www.shropshire.gov.uk - under “Current Council Vacancies”. It is helpful if the ten signatures are accompanied by printed names and addresses.
** In calculating the notice period, day one is the day following the date of this notice; a Saturday, Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Good Friday or a Bank Holiday or day appointed for public thanksgiving or mourning shall be disregarded, and the period closes at midnight on the fourteenth day after the date of this notice. Bridgnorth's Annual Town Meeting will be taking place on Wednesday 20th April at 7pm in the Low Town Community Hall.
This is a meeting of the Town and is an opportunity for residents to meet with the Divisional Surveyor’s Department, Police, Shropshire Councillors and Bridgnorth Town Councillors to ask any questions they may have.
Also present at the meeting are two guest speakers; Logan Pope, a Young Carer and Fundraiser and Clive Leworthy from Shropshire Rural Community Council.
