In association with Keep Britain Tidy, Bridgnorth Town Council are joining the Great British Spring Clean. We like to keep Bridgnorth pretty and monthly litter pick in different areas each time. We are always looking for new litter picking heroes! Join us with your kids, never too early for them to learn!

A vacancy has arisen for the position of Town Clerk to Bridgnorth Town Council.
Salary Scale SCP 48-51
(£42,899 - £46,036)
The ancient market town of Bridgnorth, dating back over 1000 years, lies in South Shropshire astride the River Severn and is a delightful place to live and work with a real community spirit. We currently have 17 FTE staff and a current budget of circa £900k.
The Council are currently reviewing all aspects of its Constitution. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on developing a mid-long term strategy involving residents, businesses, organisations and groups to create a new, more cohesive and positive future.
We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Clerk, preferably CILCA qualified or working towards this with significant experience in this role. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Shropshire Council's term maintenance contractor, Ringway, have now completed the temporary works at Bridgnorth Severn Valley Railway Footbridge and it will be reopened this afternoon.
Engineers will continue to monitor the footbridge on a regular frequency to ensure it remains structurally safe in the intervening period until the permanent repairs are carried out.

The Town Council wishes to confirm that the Town Clerk, Mrs Anne Wilson has left the employment of Bridgnorth Town Council. The Council is now in the process of actively recruiting for the position of Town Clerk.
In the interim period Mr. Barry Ince will be Acting Town Clerk (Proper Officer) and Mrs Roslyn Williams is Acting Responsible Finance Officer, (RFO)

Anne Wilson – Statement on leaving Bridgnorth
Following some personal reflection I have made a decision to leave Bridgnorth Town Council in order to be able to spend more time caring for my family. I would like to take this opportunity to say that I have enjoyed representing Bridgnorth as a Town Clerk and the work, projects and events that I have undertaken at the Town Council, working alongside Councillors, community organisations and the residents of Bridgnorth and I wish all the best for the future the Town and the new Town Clerk.
I would also like to clarify that contrary to postings in the local press and on social media to the best of my knowledge all employment policies and procedures have been correctly followed during the course of my employment with Bridgnorth Town Council
Statement by Ron Whittle and Bridgnorth Town Council on Anne Wilson leaving Bridgnorth
On behalf of the Council I wish to make a statement on behalf of Anne Wilson, Bridgnorth Town Clerk. Circumstances have meant that Anne has been absent from work for the last few months. Following reflection during this time she has decided to step down from her role as Town Clerk to enable her to spend more time caring for her family.
Anne has worked for the Council for nearly 8 years and she has been a Town Clerk for more than 26 years. She has been a valued member of staff during her tenure at Bridgnorth. My fellow Councillors and I would like to wish Anne the best of luck in her future endeavours.

Bridgnorth Town Council Community Grants are made for the benefit of people and projects local to the Town of Bridgnorth.
Who is eligible?
Applications will be considered for financial assistance towards a specific project or activity from voluntary organisations and community groups, which are non-commercial and whose membership and field of activity is centred in the Town and benefits the community.
How should an organization or person apply for a grant?
If you feel you, your group or organisation may qualify for a grant you must
- complete an application form and provide a copy of your audited accounts for the past two years
- produce evidence of proposed expenditure and how any grant benefits the Parish of Bridgnorth.

How does the process work?
The Town Council considers grant applications at their April meeting each year and your application, once returned, will be considered at the April 2018 Town Council meeting.
All organisations or individuals will be asked for evidence of how the grant has been spent for the benefit of Bridgnorth residents in early 2019.
BRIDGNORTH GRANT APPLICATIONS TO BE RECEIVED BY NOON ON FRIDAY 29 MARCH 2018

Continuing on from the very successful community litter picks organised by Shropshire Council in October and November 2017 the first for 2018 took place on the 10th of January at Sainsbury’s car park. Approximately 20 people took part including members of the public, Town Council staff, Councillors and Shropshire Council and collected over 30 sacks of rubbish covering a large area of the town both commercial and residential.
The numbers attending the community litter picks continues to grow and display greater cooperation between the residents and local authority in our endeavours to keep Bridgnorth clean and tidy. New volunteers are always welcome to attend and all the equipment is provided.
The next event is planned for 14th February, meeting at the Sainsbury’s car park on Smithfield Road. It is the last event that will be organised by Shropshire Council as local residents, Christine and Phil Webster have volunteered to organise all future events and supported by the local authorities.
