Christmas Closure 2014

The Town Council closes at 12 noon today (24th December) and reopens at 9am on the 2nd January. However the open spaces and play areas will be checked on the 29th, 30th and 31st December. The undertakers will be rung by the Town Clerk on the same days for January interments, the Town Clerk will be on call for the Police and Shropshire Council and there will be an out of hours number for the Town Clerk FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY on the Town Council number. Castle Grounds will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. May we take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for 2015.

Bridgnorth Skate Park is now open for use!

The new Skate Park located on Crown Meadow is now open for use!

The landscaped areas around the Park are currently fenced off and we politely ask that people respect the fencing to give the area a chance to  seed.

An official opening of the Park will take place in early Spring where there will be Skateboard competitions for all ages. Keep an eye on our website for more details...

Mayor’s Charity Christmas Concert – Saturday 13th December 2014

Come and join the Mayor of Bridgnorth at his annual Charity Christmas Concert on Saturday 13th December 2014 at 7.30pm in the Castle Hall.

This year, Alveley Village Band will be performing alongside the Bridgnorth Male Voice Choir to raise funds for his chosen charities; Alzheimer’s Society and Grants for Bridgnorth Youth.

All tickets are £5.00 and can be purchased from the Town Council offices in College House, St. Leonard’s Close, Bridgnorth.

Doors open at 7pm.

Street Lighting Maintenance Contract

Bridgnorth Town Council are inviting expressions of interest from contractors interested in tendering for the provision of a three year Street Lighting Maintenance Contract.

Christmas Lights Switch On!

Don't forget the fantastic Christmas Lighting Up event in the town on Friday 21st November. The lights will be switched on at 6.15 p.m. with the fun starting at 4 p.m. Join the thousands of people and enjoy community stalls, fun fair, food and drinks and the showcase of local talent on the stage. Our special guest this year is Mickey Mouse!

The application date for stalls and performers at the event has now passed.

New Format to Remembrance Sunday – 9 November 2014

This year marks 100 years since the start of WW1 and our Remembrance service and parade will be following a new format.

On Sunday 9 November, proceedings will commence at the War Memorial in the Castle Grounds where people are asked to be present by 10.30am. A short service will take place which will include laying of the wreaths, laying of crosses with names of those who died in 1914 and a two minutes silence at 11am. Following this, the parade will form and depart from the Castle Grounds at 11.15am, march along the High Street past the Dias where the RAF Commander will take the salute, up Church Street to arrive at St. Leonard’s Church at approximately 11.30am, where seating will be reserved.

Part-night Lighting

Shropshire Council's conversion to part-night lighting in Bridgnorth will not now be completed until mid-November.

So far, some 200 of the 700 lights to be converted have had the necessary works completed, but unfortunately the Contractor is having to wait for an Order for additional photo-cells to be completed before continuing.

Gold Award in Heart of England In Bloom 2014

Bridgnorth is delighted to have received a gold award this year in the 2014 Heart of England Town Section category.

This is representative of the hard work of the Town Council and Shropshire Council staff and officers and the many community organisations, groups, local residents and individuals who have played such an active part in making the town look as good as it does, helped at the events and with the enhacement of the general ambience of the town.
